Last weekend I gave myself one of the best gifts ever: a weekend reunion with five of my dearest college friends.

Cindy, Dee, Kathryn, Ellen, Diane and I had not all been together in 30 years, since the end of our sophomore year at the University of North Carolina.

Four of us were from Pitt County, two from Mecklenburg County. But when we arrived in Chapel Hill as freshmen and were assigned rooms on the sixth floor of Granville East, we became The Granville Girls.
