Iwatch so many competition shows on television that I'm beginning to think of my life in terms of how my daily performance would be judged on “The Adventures of Jane.”

Some days I'm “in it to win it,” as “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson enthuses. Other days, I deserve to be voted off “Survivor” island and have my torch snuffed out. And some days all I can do is stay just far enough ahead of the competition to continue on the next leg of “The Amazing Race.”

Some days I've got rhythm and I feel like I'm on “the hot tamale train” on “So You Think You Can Dance.” Some days, I feel as if I have pulled the fox trot out of the hat and I just can't get the steps down.
