I've committed to participating in The Great Big Jill Day on Wednesday and, on my last check on Facebook, more than 100 others will participate as well.
You may not find the event on your calendar. It is the creation of Amanda Huddleston Avery in memory of Jill Hollis, who died Aug. 31, 2010, from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. A progressive, neurodegenerative disease, ALS is fatal.
On the Facebook post, Avery says, “Rather than spending the day mourning the loss of our dear friend, I encourage you to be a part of something bigger. Jill always wanted us to do more, be more, and (most importantly) love more. Rather than sitting around and feeling sorry for ourselves, Jill would want us to go out and do something because we were capable. “
