I worked Thanksgiving Day, but I still enjoyed the traditional holiday meal with all the fixings — four days later.

By that Monday, I was at my mother’s house in Greensboro where she prepared a Thanksgiving meal for me, complete with a pound cake with cream cheese and pecan frosting.

“My baby has never missed having Thanksgiving dinner and she’s not going to miss it now,” she declared.
