Speller: Universities offer studying boost

When I was in college, studying for an exam was as much about atmosphere as it was aptitude.

I had to be in comfortable, frumpy clothes with a thermos of coffee and high-protein snacks at hand.

I sometimes needed lots of space to spread things out, but mostly I needed other people around who also were serious about studying — into the wee hours of the morning.

Interesting column. I think a nod to students that study and keep up with their course work all term would be nice. I always found that was the best way to prepare for exams.Never thought all night study sessions added anything that they didn't subtract from in the process.
One other thing - you mention a Carolina in your column. Which one?
