If anyone needs a grim glance at the direction in which this country is heading, he or she needs look no further than the TV screen. There our faults as a nation are laid bare. Or rather, they are thoroughly covered — by a monstrosity known as the “Forever Lazy.”

Essentially footless pajamas, this one-piece garment is described as “the one-piece, lie-around, lounge-around, full-body lazy wear.” It’s just the thing for people too hapless to adjust their Snuggies on the long march from couch to the kitchen. But it gets worse — the commercial shows Forever Lazy fans actually out in public wearing the baggy blanket fashion statement. This is what we’ve come to, America. We are no longer able to navigate pants.

I remember seeing an “I Love Lucy” episode ages ago where Ethel refused to ride the subway wearing blue jeans.
