That’s exactly the challenge — and opportunity — being offered to local residents via the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina.
A nonprofit organization in operation since 1978, the Humane Society rescues animals from Pitt County and surrounding areas. By transferring them from county shelters, and adopting an average of 400 dogs and cats each year, this safe haven for animals helps decrease local euthanasia rates and assists in solving the pet overpopulation problem.
