Officials are investigating the death of a 36-year-old man found inside his home near B Stokes Road by deputies canvassing the area after an earlier robbery.

Deputies "saw something that looked a little out of the ordinary" at 1543 Trail's End, according to Christy Wallace, spokeswoman for the Pitt County Sheriff's Office.

They walked around the two-story brick house about noon, looked into a side window and saw what appeared to be a dead body, Wallace said.
