The East Carolina University Police Chief is retiring at the end of March.

Scott Shelton, chief since 2008, notified the university at the end of January he will move back to Missouri to be closer to family, officials said.

He came to ECU after serving as chief at the University of Missouri-Kansas City department and as an officer at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
