ECU Provost to step down

East Carolina University Provost Marilyn Sheerer will step down from her position this summer, according to the university.

Sheerer, who has been serving in her position since 2007, announced Monday she will step down from her position Aug. 15, take a retreat year and then return to the classroom, according to ECU News Services.

She previously served as the dean of the College of Education from 1998 to 2006 after working as a professor and chair of the Department of Elementary and Middle Grades Education.

She was a vivacious soul. Funny as heck! I wish her well....

She's worth it!

In the many years of her service Provost Sheerer has raised millions as Dean of Education. She is one of the most valuable assets in the ECU administration. No one creates high-salaried positions unless they are earned...She has earned whatever they intend to pay her...With all the dead weight at ECU, and there is much...especially in athletics, this is money well spent, to a fine woman who has carried much water for the University's cause. Oh and did I mention 0219...that is such an inane question.
