East Carolina University will conduct a test of its emergency notification system at noon today, sounding loud speakers and sending text messages and voice messages across campus.
The exercise will test performance of alert messaging on the university homepage, emails delivered to all ecu.edu accounts, indoor and outdoor loudspeakers, VOIP phone text and voice messages, SMS text messages, Twitter, desktop pop-up boxes and digital messages on campus display screens, a news release said.
Loudspeaker messages and other alerts will state the alarm is part of a test of the ECU Alert emergency notification system, the release said. Voice and text messages will be sent to campus VOIP telephones, and test messages will be sent to university email accounts. Display screens located throughout campus also will carry a test message.
