A Winterville moped driver was in serious condition Tuesday following a wreck involving a Greenville police car.

The wreck occurred about 3:25 a.m. on N.C. 11 near the intersection of Reedy Branch Road, according to police and the State Highway Patrol.

Master Police Officer David Braxton Lawrence, 46, of Winterville was traveling south on the highway in a marked vehicle. David Lee Haddock, 17, the driver of the moped, also was headed south, according to Sgt. K.D. Owens of the State Highway Patrol.

Terry Boardman aka Jack1919 or Boondoggle

Stop running off at the mouth and stop spreading fertilizer when you speak.

At least do some research into policies and jurisdiction etc. Then why not ask the city to let you ride along on a couple of midnight shifts say about a months worth so you get the real affect on your body. (Oh and still work your day job to help make ends meet) Yes he was going home because he can not afford to eat out every night.(If he can find some place open where he can sit down other than in his car) Yes he was going on his lunch at 3:00AM because it was a good time as 3:00AM is usually a quiet time because the drunks are gone for the evening. And how many murders that you spoke about happened after 3:00AM?

Rather than spread the stuff you spread why don't you check the stats of when the most calls for service happen? 3:00-6:00AM are generally a very quiet time for the mid shift. You so often shout about your numbers skills well use them here. The data is there but you don't want the truth you want to make the grass greener.

Your famous rants are getting old. The theory that if you speak enough crap sooner or later something will stick does not make you famous it just provides the evidence of whether or not you are as you like to call other people stupid. Keep piling the evidence on the dung heap but be careful as it is getting tall enough to fall down.

Hope to see you soon. Put your actions where your mouth is.

GPD/Moped Accident

I "HATE" JUDGEMENTAL PEOPLE. You people who have already pursecuted Officer Lawrence should wear blinders, ear plugs and duct tape. You probably do not know either of the parties involved. COVER-UP, you damn sure don't know Officer Lawrence, he would NEVER allow it. He is a fine, upstanding, honest and by the book Officer. Most of the officers take their cars with them when they go to have a meal, even if it is at home outside of the city limits of Greenville. This is in case there is an emergency that comes ups while they are eating, beleive it or not, they do jump up from their meal no matter where they are and respond.

You arm chair quarterbacks should be trying out for professional football instead on jumping to conclusions. You would get more exercise.

I think that an independent investigation is necessary

This has the potential for a cover-up

Another reason for an independent Citizen's Commission
to monitor police investigations of this nature

there appears to be policy issues here

Citizen's Review?

what policy issue?

What policy issues? That they let him go home for his lunch hour? Oh no, the travesty!

Curious

If I was driving at 3:00 am and hit a moped, what would happen to me. Let's say I was in a company vehicle. If the moped had lights on I might face charges of manslaughter. Pretty sure that is not even an option in this case. I'm sure the officer is a good man. But making a mistake and killing someone should have the same penalty no matter who you work for. A mistake is a mistake. No person should ever have a stiffer penalty for killing someone on a moped than the penalty this officer receives. Nothing against the officer, but fair is fair.

can't be manslaughter

the guy riding the moped is not dead - just seriously injured. I am sure the City's insurance will cover the officer.

If the officer doesn't take a

If the officer doesn't take a lunch, then Terry will complain about the officer getting overtime pay. Can't have it both ways, buddy.

to frisch

That has got to be one of the stupidest comments I have seen in the many years of blogging

a lunch in Ayden outside the juristiction in a City vehicle at 3am

you are a real dumb individual
and its a wonder you can read this paper- what a fool

More evidence

Keep piling up the evidence.

Great Officer & Family Man!

Jack1919, get a life! Do you not get a lunch/dinner break? How about we start telling you where to eat &/or not to eat on your break?! It's easy to sit at a computer & make accusations about situations you know nothing about.

Officer Lawrence is a really good man & I'm so sorry he's going through this. I pray for him, the young man on the moped & all their family members. It's a trying time for all involved.

If I worked in Greenville as a police officer

I would eat in Greenville especially at 3 am
when anything can hit the fan
including the bars letting out

looks like sloppy patrolling to me as that meal should be on the fly
with 3 am problems like drunks etc

"a real good man" does not condone sloppy patrolling at 3 am
where is his supervisor?

maybe that is why crimes happen at 3 am

Pile is getting dangerously hi!!

Keep piling the evidence on the dung heap but be careful as it is getting tall enough to fall down.

"A real good man" does not spread crap without doing the research. Go ahead and come spend a month on patrol on the mids. "A real good man" would come out and see what it is really like. "A real good man" would step up and say this is Terry cause everybody knows who is hiding behind Jack1919.

"including the bars letting

"including the bars letting out"

Haha...yeah man, those packed bars and clubs at 3am on a Monday morning. They are a HUGE problem!

if huge you mean killings

yes they are a problem

thats when the drunks go home and do their thing

If I am not mistaken there were a few murders on sunday night / monday morning for you HUGE fans

JACK I mean Terry

To quote you directly....That has got to be one of the stupidest comments I have seen in the many years of blogging

you are a real dumb individual
and its a wonder you can read this paper- what a fool

what is he doing going to Ayden at 3 am for a meal??

hmmm, this is a little strange!!!!

why not eat in Greenville?
after all, he is on duty isn't he?

hmmm, strange

Great Officer
