When Tommy Shackelford fell asleep on the couch last year after eating a dinner prepared by his wife, the last thing he expected when waking was to find a knife protruding from his temple.
The Farmville man’s creamed potatoes contained Flexeril, a muscle relaxant, prompting an after-dinner nap and an opportunity for his 28-year-old wife Sarah Saunders to plunge a long pocket knife into his head.
The May 16, 2011, incident will be re-enacted and analyzed tonight on television during a 10 p.m. episode of “Wives with Knives,” set to feature interviews with Shackelford, Saunders and a Pitt County Sheriff’s Office investigator.
