A 44-year-old woman was injured during a robbery at gunpoint near her home, Pitt County sheriff's officials said Saturday.

The robbery occurred at 7:05 a.m. Friday in the 1600 block of Debson Circle.

The suspect, who was not known to the victim, accosted her in her driveway as she was getting into her car, pressed what she believed was a gun to her head and snatched her purse, sheriff's spokeswoman Christy Wallace said. The purse, valued at $50, was later recovered.
