Greenville police will continue to develop strategies to deal with violent incidents downtown, its deputy chief said Thursday.

“We are always looking for different ways to deal with the problem downtown,” Joe Bartlett said during the department’s weekly news conference. “And we are constantly changing our response.”

Outgoing Police Chief William Anderson drew criticism this week from some City Council members after Anderson sent an email calling for stronger support of department’s efforts in an area he called an “out-of-control powder keg.”

Bartlett equals Anderson- lack of transparency

"Bartlett declined to comment on four arrests made Sunday in connection to a string armed robberies at Greenville fast-food businesses."

It should come as no surprise that Bartlett is carrying on where Anderson left off, secrecy and arrogance from this Greenville police department.

If they want community support , they must stop hiding behind this "impeding the investigation" nonsense.

A new Chief must provide openness in these arrests, but unfortunatley Bartlett
is not up to the task.

Count him out as a candidate- We must go to the outside, bad habits have been ingrained from the looks of it in the leadership of GPD.

By The Way-“We have talked with the mayor and the city manager and we welcome any suggestions they may have,” said Bartlett

Tell me. Do you "welcome suggestions" from your Boss , or do you DO IT!!!

Arrogance in a slip of the tongue

Let's see

What a surprise to see your idiotic and uninformed comments. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't all criminal cases end up in the eyes of the public in court? No armed robberies = right thugs in jail. We don't need a comment to figure this out!

Cynthia, Cynthia

you are way above your thinking process with these ill founded comments

please go back in your hole with the groundhog

Dumb Uninformed comment

Jack your idiotic comments never cease to amaze! The media could not care less about how any case panned out. They want to SENSATIONALIZE everything. Truth is long gone from all the media. They do not care about doing investigative reporting, just minute by minute WOW the Greenville public.

If you knew even the basics about police work (which you do not) you would know that information given to the media about an ongoing case can RUIN a case! Yes, even make the defendants go free. This is because the media rarely reports what actually is said to them, but what THEY believe will sound good.

When the time is right and all the investigation has been done, then you will see a statement.

you are the idiot, or covering up incompetence

There is absolutely no factually basis for your statements

If the chief or his so called replacement cannot give a press release on some of the details after 5 days of being arrested it either means they do not have a case or the GPD investigators are incompetent.

Hiding behind your stupid comments such as "information given to the media about an ongoing case can RUIN a case! Yes, even make the defendants go free". means that you are as incompetent as the people in the GPD or have a penchant for hyperbole. The court system doesn't work that way. You are just trying to justify the rather poor operations of the GPD in disseminating information.

Instead of your whining about the media, of which most is false, look at the facts.

Four people are in jail , charged with crimes ,each of which is under a million dollar bond and the police are not held accountable to explain it. Come on , you are full of it!!

The information policies of the GPD are terrible, nearly criminal.
