The body of an armed robbery suspect was pulled from the Roanoke River Friday — a month and a half after he plunged into the water to evade capture.
Roland “Joey” Bell was discovered about seven miles from the Sen. J.J. “Monk” Harrington Memorial Bridge on the Martin/Bertie county line, Pitt County sheriff's spokeswoman Christy Wallace said late Friday.
Bell, who was found by fisherman mid-afternoon Friday, jumped from the bridge during a three-county pursuit that began in Pitt County on April 28.
