An undercover police effort to deter crimes in the university area netted two arrests early Sunday.
Greenville officers have been conducting undercover surveillance operations in neighborhoods near East Carolina University and the Tar River, especially after downtown bars close and many students may be walking in the area, a news release said.
Early Sunday, between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., two officers observed a Ford Crown Victoria traveling slowly in the area of Summit and East Third streets, the release said. The vehicle circled the area several times and pulled up behind students who were walking.
