Three Pitt County men were arrested and charged with failure to register as sex offenders, according to a news release from the Greenville Police Department.

Anthony Chaplin, 49, was arrested on Aug. 25 at the Horizon Hotel, 2710 S. Memorial Drive. Chaplin was convicted of attempted rape in Pitt County in October 1993. He has been in violation of his registration requirements since February.

Clyde Wesley Edmundson, 51, of Greenville was arrested on Aug. 27 at 1703 Stantonsburg Road, Wilson. He was convicted of sexual offense with certain victims in Durham County in August 1998. Edmundson was charged with failure to register in May. Tony J. Grimes, 36, was arrested Monday at 4706 Payton Lane, Grimesland. He was convicted of second-degree rape in Beaufort County in May 1993. Grimes has been in violation of his registration requirements since June 2009.
