Vandals caused more than $35,000 worth of damage to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium early Sunday, including making tire marks on the playing field, officials said.
An 18-year-old student has been arrested in connection with the incident and at least two more people are involved, officials said. The suspect was arrested after he returned to the field to retrieve a lost cell phone.
The incident occurred early Sunday, according to Lt. Chris Sutton of the ECU Police Department. Vandals entered the stadium and drove three Kubota utility vehicles that had the keys in them, Sutton said.
