Matthew John Yiznitsky, a member of Boy Scout Troop 9, recently earned his Eagle Scout Award, the highest honor in Boy Scouting.
Matthew’s Scouting career began with Troop 34 in Ayden. After a year he transferred to Troop 9, where he went on to hold the leadership positions of patrol leader and troop guide.
Matthew’s Eagle Scout project consisted of repairing and improving the track and field used by Ayden-Grifton High School. He designed and constructed a system to support the netting that surrounds the discus area. He repainted the discus circle and the shot-put circle and replaced the toe-board. Also, he created a sand pit for the triple jump and long jump area. His project took 132 hours to complete.
