Jeffrey Shrock and Amanda Webb opened Outcasts Sports Bar in mid-March, located at 2601 E. 10th St., across the street from China 10 restaurant.
Webb said its a nice place for people in the area to relax and grab a bite or watch the game.
"There wasn't anything on this side of town for anyone to hang out at," Webb said.
And Outcasts has all the amenities of a typical sports bar — a jukebox, four TVs, two pool tables and a dart board.
They'll be selling domestic beers and cocktails along with a menu of food including mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, cheese fries, quesadillas, popcorn shrimp, pizza and chicken wings.
The bar will be open from 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Mondays-Satudays; 2 p.m.-Midnight on Sundays.
Call 551-5638.
Rucker John's live music
Rucker John's, at 4001 S. Memorial Drive, began giving guests an extra treat, aside from their sweet croissants. Musicians will now be playing live jazz music on Wednesday nights. They're also planning to have live beach music on the patio Saturday nights.
From 6-9 p.,m. each Wednesday, bands like the Adam Sebti Trio and the Brett Cormeaux Trio will perform inside by the bar as guests dine and enjoy half-priced bottles of wine.
Details for beach music on Saturdays has not been finalized yet, but they hope to start bringing in "Buffet-type" musicians on Saturdays this month.

Summer on the Patio
Ham's Restaurant & Brewhouse will start hosting Summer on the Patio this month, adding another day of live music to their schedule.
Each Friday throughout the summer, musicians will perform from 6-9 p.m. outdoors, as long as it's not raining (in that case, music will be played inside).
Tricky Dick's fire
Firefighters from the Eastern Pines and Winterville fire departments responded to an early morning blaze April 18 at Tricky Dick's Tavern, formerly known as Daytona's, on N.C. 43 near Bells Fork.
"The fire wasn't that large, and the fire department was able to respond and contain it fairly quickly," said Noel Lee, Pitt County Emergency Services director.
The call came in to 911 at 5:29 a.m. and when the Eastern Pines firefighters arrived shortly thereafter, the fire was venting out of one window. The fire was contained to one area of the building and the majority of the damage was from smoke, according to Lee.
"The fire department did a very good job of knocking the fire down," he said.
After the flames were extinguished, crews moved inside for salvage and overhaul operations, Lee said.
Lee doesn't consider the fire as suspicious at this point, but he said he will be working with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office to investigate and determine the cause.
Owner Debby Setzer evaluated the damage the day of the fire.
"There's a lot of smoke damage and a hole in the wall from the fire. Televisions, registers, coolers and some personal items that decorated the club were damaged by the fire, Setzer said. She acknowledged it could have been a lot worse.
"I have the highest regard for the fire department and how they responded to the fire," Setzer said.
