Clothesline Show

The second annual Clothesline Art Show and Sale by Greenville Brushstrokes will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 3 at Red Banks Primitive Baptist Church, corner of 14th Street and Red Banks Road.

Brushstrokes is a group of approximately 65 regional artists who meet twice each month. All paintings will be original works of Brushstrokes' members who represent a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic, oil, mixed media, and collage. Art, both framed and unframed, will be available for sale, with ten percent of the proceeds being donated to the Pitt County Historical Society.

Sylvia McCreary — featured artist for this year's show — will sell her 2009 calendars. 100 percent of the profits from the sale of the calendars will be distributed among the National Parkinson's Foundation, the American Parkinson Association, and the Parkinson Association of the Carolinas.

Other artists participating in the show are Jeff Jakub; Dee Standish; Susan A. Williams; and Dolly Colwell; Heidi DiBella; Janet Dixon; Lou Everett; John and Dodi Groesser; Laura Farley; Linda Griffin; Linda Hastings; Amy Oseroff; Bonnie Pulver; Ray Sobel; Tommy Smith; and Doris Ward.

Recreation & Parks

Greenville Recreation and Park will hold a weaving class from 9 a.m.-noon Wednesdays May 14 through June 17. Cost is $55 for Greenville residents, $110 for others. Call 329-4556.

Quilt display

The Unitarian Universalist Church, 131 Oakmont Drive, will exhibit "Fabulous Fiber Art," an exhibit of original quilts by members of the Artrageous Quilters of eastern North Carolina, through May 31. The display will feature fiber art by Katherine McNeese, Deborah McCullough, Mary Margaret Miller, Eileen Williams, Joanie De Groot and Amy Oseroff.

Emerge

Emerge Gallery & Art Center will exhibit senior shows by master of fine arts candidates Adam Egenolf and Susan McMurray in the Don Edwards Gallery through May 11. Egenolf is a ceramist and McMurray is a metalsmith.

Bachelor of fine arts candidates in photography Jessie Cox and Shaleen Wallace will display their work in the Harvey Wooten Gallery.

The High School Congressional Art Exhibition will be displayed May 15-23. An opening reception will be held from 7-8 p.m. May 23.

The "Rock The Bus" exhibition will be held May 30-July 11 in the Don Edwards Gallery. The exhibit includes artwork by Pitt county teachers. Photography by Paul Camnitz will be on display in the Harvey Wooten Gallery. An opening reception wll be held from 5-8 p.m. May 30.

Lisa Beth Robinson will hold a bookbinding workshop from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 17. Cost is $60 for members and $100 for others.

Gray Gallery

The Wellington B. Gray Gallery at East Carolina University will display the Master of Fine Arts Thesis exhibition for the School of Art and Design through May 23.

The Wellington B. Gray Gallery is located off Fifth and Jarvis streets on the campus of ECU in the Jenkins Fine Arts Center. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays-Fridays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays. Call 328-6336.

GMA

The Greenville Museum of Art will display the Water Color Society of North Carolina's Eastern Region show through June 21. Artists were asked to create paintings using the theme of "Wet."

The annual Pitt Community College Art and Design exhibition runs May 8-22. An opening reception will be held from 7-9 p.m. May 8.

The museum will also featuring works from its permanent collection in the front parlor, an exhibit of Kachina dolls and Native American pottery.

City Art Gallery

City Art Gallery will exhibit "Spring Fling," new works by Kristin Gibson, Connie Winters and Anne Boysen. An opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m May 1. The reception will include painting demonstration by Gibson, live music, informal modeling and a wine tasting.

The Farmville Community Art Center will display the wild bird carvings and paintings by Bill Witte through May.
