Lauren White recently brought some monkey business to Greenville. Well, not exactly, but White, 27, did open a location of the clothing store Monkee's in Arlington Village.
Monkee's is a women's shoe and apparel store that tries to reach all age groups. Monkee's flagship shop opened 10-years ago in Wilmington, selling just shoes. Now there are 18 stores in the Southeast including North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia. The Greenville store opened at the beginning of March and held its grand opening April 11.

The local Monkee's at 698-A Arlington Blvd. offers designer duds and shoes by Donald J. Pliner, Rebecca Beeson, Shoshanna, Tory Burch, BCBG, Sigerson Morrison, Rebecca Taylor, Stuart Weitzman, Jack Rogers and Cole Haan.
"We have lower-priced lines as well as designer clothing," White said.
White grew up in New Bern and attended East Carolina University. She's worked in retail for a number of years and liked Monkee's after shopping at another location.
"People know Monkee's and say that Greenville 'has now arrived,'" White said.
The Greenville store has clothes in the size range of 2-10, but they are working to expand that, White says.
"We are still learning out customer base and getting in new things all the time."
White only buys limited quantities of different pieces, because, "people don't like seeing themselves everywhere."
She recommends to take a pair jeans and a T-shirt from somewhere like Old Navy with shoes from Monkee's to spice up an outfit.
White says her favorite clothing item is a great-fitting pair of jeans. She also loves dresses for spring and summer because to their versatility.
"It is always good to have a great handbag and shoes ... it just makes you feel so good and glamorous," she said.
