Club owner Kevin Faison seized an opportunity after Baby Back Joe's closed on 10th Street. He's completely transformed the sports bar into a multi-purpose club which opened May 17.

"We describe it as two things in one," Faison said, explaining that the company name is Faces, but the venue is split into Faces Lounge and Club Faces.

The front Faces lounge is closer to a sports bar with TVs, table service, built in couches lining the walls and a separate, smaller room for pool tables. Club Faces, at the back of the bar, is mostly a dance floor, with a separate bar and DJ booth in the corner.

Faison has also included a VIP room he calls The Owner's Box. There, guests can lounge around on couches and watch TV, play video games or listen to their personal sound system and enjoy a private bar.

"Whatever amenities you want, we can put in," Faison said.

Platinum membership is $100 a year and gets members free access to the room and inside the club, unless it's one of the bi-monthly Premium Nights, when it's half-off the cover charge.

Faces also offers their own signature drinks — The Face Shot, Pretty Face (for the ladies) and Screw face (for the guys) — and Faison is planning to open the kitchen in August to serve food like chicken tenders, wings and steak baskets.

Faces, located at 2713 E 10th St., is open Thursdays-Sundays from 7 p.m.-2 a.m. This is a 21-and-older establishment and there is a dress code.

Faison said that on Saturdays men are required to wear dress shoes and button-up shirts are preferred, but you can get away with a polo or T-shirt with a sports jacket.

"I wanted to provide Greenville with an upscale environment for people who don't want to go downtown but still want to go out," Faison said.

Other bar openings/closings

The former Back Porch, located at 213 E. Fifth St. is being renovated and reopened as Sup Dogs. Owners are trying to open the bar/restaurant in July.

The owners of The Element, 420 Cotanche St., have closed their doors and sold the venue.
