Moxie is helping to celebrate back-to-school. The downtown boutique will hold its eighth fashion show with a futuristic twist at the end of this month. And they are even letting the boys come to play.
Not only will MOXIE, a women's clothing shop, be staging their fashions, but men also will be able to check out some clothes from the Backdoor Skatepark.
"We're taking it up a notch in every way possible," said MOXIE owner Kelly Boutilier.
The show will be held at 8 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Starlight Cafe, 104 W. Fifth St.
The show will consist of the first run with dressier items like dresses, silk tops, trouser jeans, satin clutches, dangling earrings and sparkly necklaces.
MOXIE will also debut their new shoe line, Not Rates.
The second run, featuring fashions from the Backdoor Skatepark, will be casual wear. It will also include MOXIE's new denim line, casual cotton dresses and tees, halter tops, paperboy hats and oversized totes.
"Most of the looks are edgy, but wearable," Boutilier said.
During the fashion show, the models will be walking down the runway to the music of local band The Spirit Molecule.
"They're all local guys and incredible musicians," Boutilier said.
East Carolina University arts students Ashley Pierce and Adesola Ogunleye will get to show off their exclusive clothing lines during the intermission.
Boutilier says the coolest part of the show is the human art exhibit.
Local artists will be given a "human canvas" that they will paint.
The "canvases" will then be displayed the cafe's windows before the show. Guests will vote on their favorite to decide a winner.
Guests can stay after the fashion show for a party and jam to the tunes of Raleigh deejay Son of Sam. He is the owner of FM Goods and Sounds.
Boutilier hopes having Son of Sam perform will bring people from all over the triangle area in to see MOXIE's show.
"I've always wanted people from all over the state to come to Greenville just to see our show and have a little fun. This year we expect that to happen," she said.
