Dinner Dance
"A Night to Remember," a parent-youth dinner dance with formal attire, live music and gourmet dinner, will be held at 7 p.m. at the Hilton Greenville. Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for children. The event is presented by Save our Children in Time. Call 258-8675 or 258-8729.
Opening reception

Auditions
The Greenville Theater Project seeks women of all ages, races, shapes and lifestyles to audition for a production of Eve Ensler's "Vagina Monologues." Auditions will be held from 6-9 p.m. today and Saturday in Bate 1031 on the East Carolina University campus. Performances are scheduled for February. Audition monologues are available in Bate 2010 or by e-mailing loveyourvagina@gmail.com. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Family Violence Programs of Pitt County.
Whirligig festival
The Town of Wilson will hold the Whirligig Festival, its annual festival of music, children's activities and live entertainment, from 6-10 p.m. today and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday in downtown Wilson. New this year is a bicycle tour. Call 237-0165 for more information, or visit www.wilsonnc.org.
Diabetes Walk
The third annual Greenville Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held at the Pitt County Fairgrounds. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the walk starts at 10:30 a.m. The fundraising goal this year is $205,000. Walkers will be served lunch, snacks and will have a chance to win prizes, including the "Best Company T-shirt" design. Music of the Night
The J.H. Rose High School Chorus will sponsor its seventh annual Music of the Night fundraiser at 7 p.m. in the school's Performing Arts Center, 600 W. Arlington Blvd. The performance will include songs from stage and screen featuring students in solo and duets. Ticket donation is $5 per person at the door. Refreshments will be served. Yard sales
REAL Crisis Center will hold a yard sale from 6-11 a.m. Saturday at the center, 600 E. 11th St. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the center's efforts to provide 24-hour services.
Phi Theta Kappa will host a yard sale from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pitt Community College. Vendor spaces are $10 each. Vendor setup is planned from 5:30-6:30 a.m. No weapons will be allowed to be sold. Call Sadie Oates at 252-493-7413.
Art reception

Bird Feeder
Goose Creek State Park in Washington, N.C., will hold a bird program 2 p.m. Saturday. As cold weather approaches, birds are left with fewer food sources. Participants will see the park's Bird Feeder Station, learn some techniques to attract birds to their back yards, and practice identifying some of the common backyard birds of fall and winter. Free. Astronomy
Goose Creek State Park in Washington, N.C., will hold an Astronomy in the Park program from 6-7:45 p.m. Did you know that the phase of the moon and its position in the sky can reveal the time of day or night on Earth? Participants will make a moon dial that tells time by the light of the moon. Afterward, everyone will go outside to use try the timepieces and to observe the fall constellations. Craft sale
The Blind Center, 221 N. Harvey St., Washington, N.C., will host a create-a-craft fundraiser, Decoupage a Holiday Glass Plate, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or noon to 4 p.m. at the center. Participants will decorate a plate with holiday material by using the decoupage technique. The benefit also will include door prizes, a luncheon and a tour of the facility and the Gift Shoppe. International Festival
Raleigh's 21st annual International Festival will be held from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today and from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at Dorton Arena on the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Requiem
Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church will present Johannes Braham's "German Requiem" at 10:30 a.m. The Requiem, considered one of the greatest choral masterpieces of the 19th century, will be performed by the Jarvis Chancel Choir accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra and organist Steve Cagle. Choral concert
The Greenville Choral Society will open its 37th season at 5 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 401 E. Fourth St., with an all-Psalms concert featuring music from several different choral traditions. The concert choir and chamber chorale will perform. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for students and children. Hike
Goose Creek State Park will hold a Fall Nature Hike at 2 p.m. On this two-mile hike on the Flatty Creek Trail, a ranger will point out the many changes occurring in the forest as winter approaches. Instrumental Quarter
Italy's Instrumental Quarter will perform at Greenville's Spazzatorium Galleria. The cinematic post-rock band performs while films run against a backdrop.
