The Underpants

The ECU/Loessin Playhouse will present "The Underpants" at 8 p.m. today through Tuesday, except Sunday when the show will be held at 2 p.m. "The Underpants," a comedy by Carl Sternheim adapted by comedian Steve Martin, is a satire adapted from the classic German play about a couple whose conservative existence is shattered when her bloomers fall down in public. Scrooge

The Farmville Community Arts Councill will present "Scrooge: The Musical" at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Farmville Community Art Center, 111 N. Main St., Farmville. This musical form of the novel "A Christmas Carol" features Scrooge, a cold-hearted man who has no love for Christmas, children or anything that even provokes happiness. Book signing

A book signing for Justin A. Freeman's latest novel "The Ghosts of Amalgam: The Linking Tome," will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Greenville Museum of Art, 801 S. Evans St. Freeman is a Pitt county native and a graduate from Farmville Central High School. "The Linking Tome" is the first of a proposed seven-part series of novels combining ghosts and fantasy. Salsa

The Folk Arts Society of Greenville and ECU Folk & Country Dancers will hold a salsa dance from 8:30-11 p.m. at the Willis Buildling, corner or First and Reade streets. Claymation films

A Christmas Carol

Smiles and Frowns Playhouse will present Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," adapted by John Jakes, at 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Saturday at Ayden Recreation Center, 4354 Lee St. Ayden. The East Carolina University's men's basketball team will play Liberty at 7 p.m. Saturday and North Wesleyan College at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Kids in the Kitchen

ViQuest Center, 2610 Stantonsburg Road, will host "Kids in the Kitchen" on Saturday. This month's theme is turkey. Ages 4-7 will meet from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by ages 8-12 from 11 a.m.-noon. The class is designed to teach participants hand-washing, safe food preparation and how to prepare simple, quick and healthy foods for themselves and the family. Gourd design

Emerge Gallery, 404 S. Evans St., will sponsor a children's workshop, "Feast Your Eyes on This: Gourd Design and Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feast," from 10 a.m.-noon. The workshop, for ages 3 and older, will include painting and designing a gourd, along with food and a showing of "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving." Cost is $20 for emerge members and $30 for others. Health fair

The Brody chapter of the Student Medical Association will hold a free community health fair from 2-6 p.m. at the Greenville Hilton, 207 S.W. Greenville Blvd. The American Red Cross, Carolina Donor Services, the National Bone Marrow Donor Program and the Substance Abuse Coalition of Pitt County are among those who will participate. Grand Ole Gospel, 485 Carrow Road, Chocowinity, will host the Mel McDaniel's Show at 7 p.m. McDaniel is known for his songs "Louisiana Saturday Night," "Stand Up," "Anger and Tears," "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On," "I Call It Love," "Stand On It" and a remake of Chuck Berry's "Let It Roll (Let It Rock)." Astronomy in the park

Goose Creek State Park will host astronomy in the park program, "Shooting Stars," at 5 p.m. Each mid-November the Earth passes through a debris field that has the potential of filling the night sky with hundreds of meteor trails. Jumble Sale

The Beaufort Historical Association will hold its annual jumble sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site. This annual event features vendors selling antiques and collectibles, art, crafts, pre-loved treasures, holiday gift items and food. Call 728-4966.

Ooops! Improv

Holiday open house

Arlington Village will hold its holiday open house from 1-5 p.m. Stores will have refreshments, music and holiday specials. Goose Creek State Park will hold an "All Things Are Connected" program at 3 p.m. The plight of endangered animals such as the polar bear and the snow leopard makes headline news. But what about the smaller, not so obvious, endangered animals that impact our own neighborhood? Learn which local species are endangered, what is being done to preserve and protect them, and how you can help make a difference.

Vegetarian feast

The Vegetarians in Pitt County will hold its annual covered-dish vegetarian Thanksgiving feast at 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 131 Oakmont Drive.
