Movin' Up will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a concert at Temple Free Will Baptist Church at 7 p.m. today.

The Greenes, a gospel group from Boone, will be the special guests.

"I've known The Greenes for 15 years. They had a cancellation in Richmond and called me, asking if I could get them in anywhere," said Movin' Up's founding member Tim Sutton.

Sutton said that timing couldn't have been better and booked The Greenes for Movin' Up's anniversary concert.

Movin' Up was founded as an-all male quartet in 1988 by Sutton, a Greenville native. Over its 20-year history, members have come and gone.

Now a trio, the group includes Sutton, Amy Keel and Amber Mann.

The group recently completed a 15-song CD.

"This is the first CD we've completed in about three years, and all the songs we're performing (Friday) night are on the CD," Sutton said.

The group is known for its three-part harmony with such songs as "One Drop of Blood," "Should Jesus Come Today" and "Satisfied."

The trio mainly tours the Southeastern United States, singing 80 to 90 dates a year, including a two-week Christmas concert with The Dixie Melody Boys from Kinston.

When Sutton is not on the road with Movin' Up, he's involved with the music ministry of Unity Free Will Baptist Church, in addition to working full time at Winterville Automotive.

"Everybody in our group has full-time jobs. Amy works for Discovery Insurance, and Amber is the secretary at her church in Goldsboro," he said.

Keel traveled for a number of years with Heaven Sent Ministries and then joined Movin' Up in 2006. The Kinston native is a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in her hometown.

Mann just joined Movin' Up in January. Born and raised in Tulsa, Okla., Mann and her family moved to the Goldsboro area in 2003.

After college, she and her family began singing in local churches and recorded their first album, "Remembering The Cross" in May 2006. She is a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

Joining Movin' Up in their celebration will be The Greenes.

Founded in 1978, The Greenes were brothers Tim and Tony Greene and sister Kim Greene.

TaRanda Riser joined the group in 1997 after Kim Greene left.

The group received national recognition in 1984 when its single "Gloryland" reached the Gospel Top 40.

Other hits include "When I Knelt," "In The Twinkling Of An Eye," "Jesus' Rocking Chair," "Glorious City of God," "I'm So Happy" and "Some Sweet Day."
