Chrissy's Steak, Seafood and Oyster Bar at 658 E. Arlington Blvd. has closed after recently changing its name and menu.
The venue in Arlington Village has hosted several businesses including Vinnie's Steakhouse and V's in the Village. Chrissy's opened in April.

Here's what else is happening on the local restaurant scene.

Nah - the relative failed down here because Southerners don't like paying 25 bucks for a steak or 10 bucks for a sanwich.
Suggest removalUp north where everything is more expensive, they blindly pay for it and don't worry about overspending. That's why they got all those unions up there - let someone else worry about it.

Well, there goes the coupon I can't use out of the Attraction Dining book. The same thing happened last year with another place going out of business. I was sure hoping to get some steamed oysters! Cliff's seafood is gone now and I think the only place to get steamed oysters is Whimpie's in Winterville. Anyone know of anywhere esle? Thanks.

What an ignorant thing to say. The war is over, get over it already. The major northeastern cities are all immigrant melting pots with loads of cultural foods from all over the world.

You're just mad because what you call "food" Northerners use for crab bait. Pork necks! What is wrong with you people? This is the only place I've ever been to that "features" an entire aisle in the grocery store dedicated just to pork. "Oh fish, yeah there's a small case of it at the end of the pork aisle. Fresh fish? Nope don't have it." And people wonder why heart disease is the number one killer in NC.

Tomformerly: It is obvious that you have a plethora of personal issues and maladaptive characterological traits that are completely unrelated to dining and food. These issues simply manifest themselves here in poorly misplaced diversion. Yup, it's that obvious. This diagnostic impression is free of charge. You're welcome.

Yall should get an over under to see which is the next place that will close. Trips or maybe one of the Hibachi places? While you are at it drink some sweet tea and have a chicken biscuit. What a great town yall will have when there are only biscuit shops that are left. -Dummies-

It is a shame Chrissy's went out of business. I agree that Greenville needs a seafood restaurant... something like the old Cliff's. I'm not sure what the answer is for that Arlington village location.

I hate that Chrissy's did not make it. I ate there several times and felt that the prices were fair and the seafood good. I never tried the steaks or other entrees. The atmosphere was nice and I feel the location is fine. I'm not sure why things do not last there. I hate that Greenville no longer has a seafood restaurant or oyster bar. I wish the owners well and am sorry they could not make it.

A'Tavola, CPW's & Basils are all in "out of the way" locations yet they thrive. I don't want a high dollar steakhouse like the Beef Barn. I want to order something that I would not normally prepare myself for about $10 to $15. And thats with a salad!

...this is Greenville, not NYC, Miami, LA, etc... and in Greenville we are smart enough to know the difference between high end (ie. extra special, pricier menu) and over-priced menu with not so special food. And, we support the restaurants that provide value for dollar.

There was a resturant in that mess of shops? I think the "village people" should pack up and tear the village down.

More than likely, your relative served nasty Northern food. It's well known that Northerners are not known for their cooking prowess, but Southerners do possess this trait.
Suggest removalTell your relative I'm sorry, but Southerners enjoy good food - not nasty beans or whatever it is Northerners eat.

A relative with a cooking school degree who worked in a high end restuarant in New York opened the first place, it was Matter of Taste. She sold it and left less than a year and a half later, claiming Greenville will never be ready for a different dining atmosphere. The majority of the people in Greenville would rather eat at K&W than a high end restuarant.

For the record, I don't eat at Bojangles or Arby's. Chrissy's had a terrible atmosphere and the food wasn't anything special. I think that's a great location for a restaurant -- easy access, lots of parking. I'm not sure what the problem is. I have tried every restaurant that has been there. Some of them closed for reasons other than poor business, like family issues, etc. Who's next??

that arlington village location is horrible, there needs to be some large signage to make it stand out, in reality that spot should be converted to retail spots. A restaurant will never make it there IMO, horrible location. Much like Fuddruckers, the location of Chrissys was bad & the prices too high for the avg. person for what you got.

If the issue were just the economy, then Longhorn wouldn't be as busy as they are. They have 1 hour+ waits on the weekend, and an expensive menu. The issue here is location and branding. That Chrissy's location just doesn't scream "come here, great food and atmosphere." It's still sad to see a locally owned place go under though.

Try and count all of the restaurants in the Greenville area. It's amazing how many have been able to remain in business in this dire economy. And it's a shame for all those that couldn't. The restaurant business is harsh!
