Conley band takes honors at West Craven competition

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

The D.H. Conley High School Marching Vikings competed last month in the West Craven Band Classic in Vanceboro.

Performing their show, "Celtic Legends," by Dallas C. Burke, the Vikings placed second in their class with first-place honors in music performance and general effect. The band also earned second-place finishes in marching execution and drum major.

This is the second year the band has returned to the competitive circuit in almost five years, competing in the J.H. Rose Band Competition on Oct. 17. The band director is Ben Fonville.

The band will compete in the Crystal Coast Band Classic at Havelock High School on Saturday.
