A.G. Cox Middle School students recently received
honors in the regional Science Olympiad
competition.

Ridgewood Elementary School second-graders recently
hosted WNCT-TV Meteorologist David Sawyer.

South Greenville Elementary School recently held its
annual Science Fair. There were more than 90 entries. First-place
winners included, from left, Skyler Morrissey, fifth grade; Nick
Huber, fourth grade; Chappell Batton, second grade; and Gaines
Fuqua, third grade. Some of winners will advance to regional
competition at East Carolina University. Jim Colavito, TAG teacher,
coordinated the event.

St. Peter’s Catholic School’s
Junior Beta Club members recently spent an afternoon tying fleece
baby blankets for the neonatal unit at Pitt County Memorial
Hospital.

Bethel School third-grade students recently received
dictionaries from members of Bethel Kiwanis Club. Ola Perry, left,
and Gloristine Brown, Kiwanis president, right, visited students in
Arnetta Pridgen’s class and presented the
dictionaries.

Cox takes Science Olympiad honors

A.G. Cox Middle School students participated in last month’s Science Olympiad Student Challenge competition held at Washington High School.

The following students were awarded medals in their events: Teandra Wilkins and Devin Halvorsen, third-place, disease detectives; Braxton Coleman and Levi Burnette, third place, egg-o-naut; Kevin Day and Joshua Rouse, second place, under pressure; Michael Davis and Noah Tepper, second place, solar system; Cayla Wilson and Grant Terrell, second place, ecology; Katie Fisher, Andrea Marrero-Sosa and Megha Singh, second place, experimental design; Suad Jabr, Justin Michaelson and Kristina Lundberg, first place, experimental design; Joshua Tatum and Tima Neverov, first place, wheeled vehicle; and Megha Singh and Serena Mooney, first place, anatomy.
