Happenings

Family Fare

East Carolina University's Family Fare series will present “All Aboard South America: Mighty Mysteries, Wonder and Mayhem!” at 7 p.m. Nov. 13. The play is an original musical written by professor Patricia Clark and performed by ECU Storybook Theatre. In the play, Professor Pontificator and friends travel to South America in search of great stories, including the Legend of the Dragonfly, the Lost City of the Incas, El Dorado, the Three Shovels and the Magical Lake. Tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for children. All tickets at the door are $9. Call 328-4788.

Halloween

Greenville Recreation and Parks Department will sponsor a “Haunted Halloween” for ages 5-14 from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at South Greenville Recreation Center. The free event will include games, arts and safety information about Halloween. Call 329-4549.

The Town of Farmville's Development Partnership will hold its annual hometown Halloween event from 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the downtown area. The event includes games, food, a haunted house and a costume contest. Free. Call 753-4670.

Hematoma Paintball Fields, 607 Haw Branch Road, Chocowinity, will offer a haunted paintball field for those who dare at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday. There will also be a costume contest. Call Eddie at 945-5319 or Terry at 531-7321. Visit www.hematomaspaintball.net.

Buffalo Wild Wings, 426-B E. Arlington Blvd., will have a kids' costume contest at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Call 758-9191.

A Halloween carnival will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday for ages 12 and younger at the Greenville Civic Ballet, 2285 B County Home Road. The event is a fundraiser for the Dance Collective. Call 355-7880.

Christmas play

Smiles and Frowns Playhouse will present “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 and 2 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Community Center in Ayden. Tickets are $4 in advance and $5 at the door. Advance tickets are available at Twice Is Nice and Artisans in Greenville, My Favorite Place in Winterville and Edward's Pharmacy in Ayden. Teen Zone

Pitt County Community Schools and Recreation is sponsoring Teen Zone from 6-9 p.m. the first and third Fridays of the month through Dec. 11 at the Zone on Reedy Branch Road. The program is open to grades six-nine. Entry fee is $5, and no re-entry is allowed. Call 902-1975.

Halloween stories

Sheppard Memorial Library, 530 Evans St., will sponsor Spooktacular Stories story hour at 7 p.m. Thursday for children ages 6 and younger and their families. Children may wear costumes and bring a bag to collect Halloween treats. Call 329-4581.

10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, story hour, East Branch Library, 2000 Cedar Lane. Call 329-4582.

10:30 a.m. on first and third Tuesdays, toddler story hour, Sheppard Memorial Library, 530 Evans St. Call 329-4581.

11 a.m. Wednesdays, preschool story hour, Sheppard Memorial Library, 530 Evans St. There will be no story hour on Nov. 25. Call 329-4581.

10 a.m. Thursdays, preschool story hour, Carver Branch Library, 618 W. 14th Ave. Call 329-4583.

6-7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at ViQuest Center, 2610 Stantonsburg Road. Children participate in fitness activities and nutrition lessons built around the theme of the feature story. The program is $2.50 to ViQuest members and is $5 for others. Participants must preregister. Call 847-6501.

2 p.m. Tuesday and Nov. 17, home school story hour, Sheppard Memorial Library, 530 Evans St. Call 329-4581.

Bedtime story hour, 7 p.m. Nov. 19 Sheppard Memorial Library, 530 Evans St. The event is for ages 10 and younger and their families. Participants may wear pajamas and bring a stuffed animal or a blanket. Call 329-4581.

Time Out Tuesday

The Martin/Pitt Partnership for Children, the local Smart Start organization, will host “Time-Out” Tuesday at 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Greenville Mall.

The events are designed for children ages 1-5 and their parents. The monthly events are free. Visit www.mppfc.org or call 756-1567.
