— Superior Court: Criminal Superior Court hears felony cases and cases appealed from District Court. Civil Superior Court handles cases involving disputes in excess of $10,000 and other matters as provided by law.

— District Court: Criminal court meets every day in Greenville; Tuesdays in Ayden; Thursdays in Farmville. The court handles traffic cases, misdemeanors, probable-cause hearings on felony cases and all first-appearance hearings.

— Juvenile Court: Sessions every Tuesday and Thursday. Cases involve the district attorney and the Department of Social Services.

— Civil Sessions: Meet almost every day, with half-days beginning at 2 p.m. for motions and non-jury trials; one week-long session is reserved each month for jury and non-jury trials; Domestic court is held almost every week; Child Support sessions involving the Department of Social Services, two days every week; Domestic violence sessions meet every Friday.

— Superior Court Judges: W. Russell Duke Jr., senior resident; Clifton W. Everett Jr., resident; Marvin K. Blount III, special; Thomas D. Haigwood, special emergency judge. 695-7260.

— District Court Judges: David A. Leech, chief judge; P. Gwynett Hilburn; Joseph A. Blick Jr.; G. Galen Braddy; Charles M. Vincent. 695-7270.

— Magistrates: Offices are located at 124 New Hope Road, Greenville, 695-7395; 4144 West Ave., Ayden, 746-7015; 3672 N. Main St., Farmville, 753-4111. Magistrates include: James Cowan (Farmville and Greenville), Keith Hall (Ayden and Greenville), Cheryl Jordan (Greenville), James H. Dupree (Bethel and Greenville), Angela Wanette Milbourne (Greenville), Les Causey (Ayden and Greenville), Leslie L. Turner Sr. (Greenville), Bobby Hardy (Greenville), James Keith Knox (Greenville), Edward Earl Aldridge Jr. (Greenville), Robert A. Smith (Greenville).

— District Attorney: W. Clark Everett is responsible for prosecuting all criminal matters in Pitt County.

— Assistant D.A.s: Kimberly Robb, Tonya Oliver, Darth Akins, Chris Johnson, Faris Dixon, Sherri Horner, John Criscitiello, Brian DeSoto, Anthony Futrell, and Joshua Boberg.

— Public Defenders Office:Robert C. Kemp III, 212 S. Greene St., P.O. Box 8047, Greenville, 27835, 695-7300. Judges appoint attorneys with the office to represent indigent defendants.

— Assistant Public Defenders: Todd Amundson, Stephan Hagen, Miltonia Moore, Stephanie Williams, John Savage, Wendy Smallwood, Taplie Coile, Kristie Stilton, and Jay Saunders.

— Clerk of Superior Court: Sara Beth Fulford Rhodes, 695-7100, 100 W. Third St., P.O. Box 6067, Greenville, 27835. Manages records for civil and criminal court proceedings.

— Federal Court: Clerks office and general information, 830-6009. U.S. District Judge Malcolm J. Howard hears cases in the federal courthouse at 201 S. Evans St. Magistrate Judge David W. Daniel holds detention hearings and initial appearances in criminal matters as well as conducts pretrial conferences and settlement conferences in civil matters.
