I enjoyed the special, twitch. Last week they had one on the Lincoln assassination. Did Booth escape the Union juggernaut and live to be an old man in Texas? I don't see how he could have ever hidden in plain sight in the USA after committing such an act, but I found the special to be VERY interesting... One of my favorite tv shows is IF WALLS COULD TALK. Have you seen it?

Everybody knows, that the Confederate gold was found on the ironclad boat "Texas" in the desert in Mali, I think it was(along with Lincoln's bones). :)

No, I haven't seen IF WALLS COULD TALK. Is it HISTORY Channel? I'll have to check it out. I don't know about Booth escaping-- but he is rumored to have been a member of Knights of the Golden Circle. Like that guy on the Cofederate Gold program.

------------ Two episodes of IF WALLS COULD TALK come on tomorrow morning, at 7 am and 7:30. It's on the HGTV channel. I record them all and watch them later... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI0gRtu5Zlc&feature=related

I personally take a lot of what the History Channel reports with a grain of salt, especially in light of its ownership: "The channel is owned by A&E Television Networks, a joint venture of Hearst Corporation, Disney-ABC Television Group (The Walt Disney Company), and NBC Universal (General Electric),[" Even notice the background music to set the stage for what is being reported? Sort of like laugh-tracks for so-called comedy.

Did anybody see that documentary on Jesse Jame's treasure that was on a while back. Modern day treasure hunters were looking for buried gold. Unlike 99% of the "mystery" documentaries on TV, these guys actually found it. There's gold out there to be found, both buried treasure and gold in creeks and rivers. There is even a couple of creeks within a couple of hours of Greenville that are producing gold to prospectors. There was a whole gold mining town about an hour from Rocky Mount. The mine/town played out early in the 20th century, but that was when gold was $20.00 an ounce. Even though you might not find much gold today, you could still make good money if you were lucky. Besides, there has been a lot of erosion in those creeks in the last hundred years, and I bet more gold has been uncovered. It's out there just waiting.

--------------- I did and enjoyed it!!! I know there's buried gold somewhere just waiting to be discovered. I'll never discover it, but someone will...

If I was a young guy that couldn't find a job, or was laid off, I'd scrape up enough money for a metal detector, tent, supplies, a shovel, sieve, and a gold pan and live on Shoco Creek for a whole summer and see what I could find. But, I'm old and wore out, so I won't. Plus, I am currently angrified.
