Rick Sanatorium, A nut too far
February 9, 2012 - 6:09pm
Yesterday this self styled religious fanatic said the Obama administration was crushing religious freedom and setting the country towards executing religious people by decapitation. Any way you look at it a nut is a nut is a nut and this nut wants to be POTUS.

So Santorum might want people to believe - but it shows a pretty basic lack of understanding of how our government is structured and how it functions - if you take him at his word. Faith is a fine invention for sure - but our government is based on civil law. I think that Santorum is cheapening his faith by trying to use it as a political tool.

I think that Santorum is cheapening his faith by trying to use it as a political tool. Name a conservative who hasn't? It's like the abortion debate. Not one conservative has even attempted to change that law. They have amended it so that when you can get an abortion has changed, but little else.

In reality I to have difficulty understanding what "conservative" means in America today. In my younger days when we said conservative we were referring to fiscal conservatives and the understanding of them then is no different than today. Today we have people calling themselves social conservatives and that terminology is far more difficult to understand because so much of "social" conservatism as presented sounds much like good old fashioned bigotry. In any event I feel its difficult to refer to ourselves as liberal, conservative or any thing else with a one word label. We are all far too complicated for such labels to be valid.

http://markamerica.com/2011/12/16/is-ron-paul-a-conservative/ The supporters of Ron Paul say he’s a conservative. They cite his strong commitment to the US Constitution on economic issues. They remind us about his focus on the 10th Amendment. They point out his desire to return to a solid currency. What they scurry to cover is his naive, nonsensical ideas about national defense and foreign policy. What they rush to ignore are the asinine contentions of Ron Paul that seek to pander to 9/11 conspiracy theorists, and his child-like view that Iran will be fine if it develops nuclear arms. Even if these weren’t bad enough, his supporters use stealth and misleading approaches to sell him as a conservative. I’m weary from all those who tell me Ron Paul is a conservative, because in fact, he is not. Instead, he’s a libertarian, and he’s in the wrong party, and I have no problem suggesting he should take his act elsewhere, and if need be, take his followers with him. Conservatives don’t pander to so-called “truthers” or to the hemp lobby, but that is the core of his support. Conservatives don’t blame America for the September 11th attacks of 2001. Ron Paul does.

Paul's the only conservative in the race...... | Scene Around |

Let's put it in context:
SANTORUM: They are taking faith and crushing it. Why? Why? When you marginalize faith in America, when you remove the pillar of God-given rights, then what’s left is the French Revolution. What’s left is the government that gives you right, what’s left are no unalienable rights, what’s left is a government that will tell you who you are, what you’ll do and when you’ll do it. What’s left in France became the guillotine. Ladies and gentlemen, we’re a long way from that, but if we do and follow the path of President Obama and his overt hostility to faith in America, then we are headed down that road.
