Everyone needs a little black dress for all sorts of occasions — dates, parties or even for a shopping day. One dress can be transformed from a casual daytime sundress to an elegant late-night party dress, with the right accessories.

Lauren White, co-owner of Greenville's Monkees in Arlington Village, helped me turn my simple little black dress into two very different outfits.

For a lunch date with friends or just an ordinary day, Lauren picked a bright punch of yellow to make the outfit stand out. Banana yellow "Reva" ballet flats with the signature gold Tory Burch emblem added a splash of color. Lauren handed me a black and white print Pa-Tou-Tou "Canasta" bag with yellow bamboo handles and accents. With a great braided gold ring, gold bamboo hoop earrings and a gold braided bracelet with white circle accents, all by Kenneth Jay Lane, my little black dress was ready for any daytime adventure.

To make my dress appropriate for the evening, Lauren selected Juicy Couture "Cameron" T-strap black satin heels with rhinestone embellishments. She added an equally amazing Pa-Tou-Tou wynne mesh clutch with a black and silver giraffe print to compliment my knockout shoes. Adding a little sparkle to my outfit, Lauren gave me a pair of Kenneth Jay Lane gold chandelier earrings with rhinestones, Seasonal Whispers silver and gold bangles with rhinestone trimmings and a white flower with yellow gold ring by Kenneth Jay Lane. The bold jewelry, strappy shoes and shimmery clutch transformed my casual dress into a nighttime-ready ensemble.
