Wow! What a warm welcome I received to Greenville. On my first day here, I went into McAlister's Deli because I was starving and didn't have anything to eat in my new refrigerator. I saw October's issue of Her... magazine and began flipping through the pages — and there I was, with my first column. What a great surprise! This definitely made me feel relaxed and at home.
When moving to a new area, there are a lot of anxieties. This incident let me push those aside and get on with the move. Oh, and the scrumptious sandwich I ate helped, too!
In the last issue, you read that my husband and I had found the house of our dreams. However, after much deliberation, we have decided to rent a house first. We think this will give us the opportunity to get a better feel for the area before purchasing a home.
The house we are renting is in a great location. It is within walking distance of Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and we have access to all of the local shopping. I believe we are going to enjoy the vicinity as well as the convenience.
Moving from an apartment to a house is a big change. Our animals love it, and we are enjoying the privacy and handiness of the backyard. With the new addition to our family rapidly approaching, it gives us the opportunity to expand as well.
Finding our way around the area has been pretty much a breeze. With everything at our fingertips, how can you go wrong? The locals have all been friendly and helpful in pointing us in the right direction. We are getting along just great. Sometimes we get turned around but that is just part of the adventure.
We are already taking pleasure in being surrounded by the college atmosphere. It hasn't been too long since my husband and I attended college, but long enough to make us reminisce. It is amazing how the entire city gets behind their local teams. To see the sea of purple just makes me smile. What a supportive and loving community. I can't wait to become a part of it.
