I have developed a serious problem of self-affliction via heat-styling. When my small-barrelled curling iron broke, I replaced it with a better one that created larger waves. The problem, however, is my ears.
Though I rarely ever acknowledged my facial appendages, suddenly they were consistently being fried by my curling iron. I mean no exaggeration by the term "fried." For weeks, friends and coworkers would glance at me with great concern after they'd notice another end of my ear missing. "Oh, my God! What happened to your friggin' ear?!" they all cried.
Apparently, I'm always simply too focused on my surroundings to protect my own skin.
For clumsy burn-prone hair stylists like me, InventHelp gives us Ear Cuffies. Ear Cuffies are little pieces of cloth designed to cover the tops of your ears and protect them from curling irons, straighteners, rollers, hot combs, etc. They're machine washable and attach at the top of the ear with an elastic strap to make sure they stay in place. However, because of the cuffies' large size, I found it easier to cover my whole ear with them.
So what if I look a little like a muppet? For the first time in a long time, I don't look like I've been laying my head on a charcoal grill!
