Bethel seniors to hold yard sale on July 11
The Bethel Senior Citizens will be hold a yard sale from 7 a.m. to noon on July 11 at the Senior Center, 7406 Main St., Bethel. Free blood pressure checks and glucose screenings will be available.
Spaces may be rented for $5. Tables and chairs are not provided. For more information, call the center at 825-9112 or Margaret Watson at 825-5541.
Winterville plans road improvements
The Town of Winterville has announced that construction will begin July 13 on Main Street from Ragland Street to Graham Street. The improvements will include curb and gutter as well as a sidewalk on the south side of the street.
In addition to the work being done on the streets, there will be some stormwater drainage work completed in the area off Main Street.
The project is scheduled to be completed by late December. During the time of construction, only local traffic will be permitted through the area. Access to the post office will be provided. For more information, call 756-2221.
Eva J. Lewis alumni of ECSU to meet

North Pitt Class of '98 planning 10th reunion
North Pitt High School's Class of 1998 will hold its 10-year reunion July 25-26. A family meet-and-greet fun night is planned for July 25 at AMF East Carolina Lanes. Rates are $12 per adult and $10 for children.
A dinner social will be held beginning at 9 p.m. on July 26 at Chefs 505, at 505 Red Banks Road. There is no cover charge, but dinner and drink prices may vary.

Nominations sought for volunteer award
Nominations are being accepted for the 2009 North Carolina Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service.
Each county selects five individuals, businesses, and/or groups to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to their communities. One of the five recipients will be nominated to receive the North Carolina Outstanding Volunteer Medallion. A local committee evaluates the nominations.
Nomination forms are available at the United Way office, 226 W. Eighth St., in Greenville or by e-mailing dlucas@uwpcnc.org.
Forms are due by 5 p.m. on July 31.
