A Rocky Mount woman was arrested Monday after she tried to cash in a stolen ticket at the Greenville lottery office, police said.
Shirley Baines Kelley, 44, 216 Oak St., Rocky Mount, was charged with possession of stolen property and attempting to obtain property by false pretenses.
She was placed under a $5,000 unsecured bond and was not in custody at the Pitt County Detention Center late Thursday.
Maj. Kevin Smeltzer, interim Greenville Police chief, said Kelley and three other women entered the N.C. Education Lottery Office on Dickinson Avenue about 5:15 p.m. Monday.
Kelley was attempting to collect prize money when an official at the facility noticed the ticket was reported stolen from Rocky Mount, Smeltzer said.
Few other details were available at press time Thursday.
