A clerk was pistol-whipped but not seriously injured when someone robbed a Wilco Hess at gunpoint Sunday night, according to Greenville Police Department reports.
An armed man entered the 3000 Memorial Drive gas station around 10:30 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk, said Cpl. Kip Gaskins. At some point, he struck the clerk with a handgun, causing a small cut. Gaskins said the man was transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, but he did not believe the injury was serious. The robber then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Gaskins could not confirm how many customers were present at the time of the robbery. He said they will be releasing more information soon, but are currently waiting on footage from surveillance cameras inside the store.
The same Wilco Hess location was robbed Feb. 2.
