Thief takes guitar from parked car

Greenville police officers investigated a report that someone entered a 20-year-old woman's unlocked car parked in a lot in the 3500 block of South Memorial Drive on Monday and stole an electric guitar valued at $2,000 and $5.

Machine theft

Officers responded to a report that someone removed a vending machine valued at $1,200 from the laundry room at Carriage House Apartments in the 2400 block of Charles Boulevard on Monday.

Car break-in, theft

East Carolina University Police officers responded to a report that someone broke into a car in a secured lot at Fourth and Reade streets on Thursday and stole a computer game system and DVD game disc valued at $540, an iPod valued at $250 and a stereo speaker valued at $200.

Computer theft

Officers investigated a report that someone entered a 19-year-old student's unlocked room in Umstead Hall on Saturday and stole an IBM Thinkpad laptop computer valued at $1,795.

Tools stolen

Pitt County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report that someone broke into a 32-year-old man's home in the 3100 block of Penny Hill Road on Monday and stole several carpentry tools valued at $1,385.

Sheriff's deputies investigated several vehicle thefts on Monday:

Three people tried to steal a 1983 Buick Electra sedan, valued at $1,000, from a 64-year-old Ayden man in the 3500 block of Jolly Road. Deputies arrested Kee-Kee Murphy, 25, of 1507 Chestnut St.; Orlando Maurice Whitehurst, 25, of 3014 Summer Place, and Mahoganhi Saryah Quininez, 16, of 4025 Laurinburg St. in Ayden. Each was charged with two counts of felony attempted larceny. Murphy also was charged with resisting an officer. Whitehurst and Murphy were held at the Pitt County Detention Center on $50,000 secured bonds. Quininez was released to her mother on a $50,000 unsecured bond.

A representative of Vandemere Holdens, a property management company, reported that someone stole a trailer valued at $7,000 from one of its properties in the 1600 block of Mandy Drive.

Deputies investigated a report that someone stole a burgundy 1997 Buick LeSabre sedan valued at $600 from its location at N.C. 43 South and N.C. 102 East in Ayden on Monday.
