The first: Charlene (Charlie) Grant, thinks that she only has four days to live. Her rationale is that two of her best friends were murdered one year apart on the same date.
Charlie describes to the detective the method — strangulation — and she even points out that the subsequent investigation will reveal no defensive wounds on her body and no forensic evidence whatsoever. As weird and unusual as it all seems, D.D. decides to take on the case.
