First Friday

Uptown Greenville will hold its monthly First Friday event from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Greenville. Local shops, galleries, museums and restaurants will be open for the self-guided event. Free. Call 561-8400.

Opening reception

The Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge, 404 S. Evans St., will hold an opening reception for the 11th annual Schwa Show from 6-9 p.m. The show has received entries from throughout the United States. Free. Call 551-6947.

Fishing expo

The 22nd annual Bass and Saltwater Fishing Expo will be held from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. today, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday in the Jim Graham Building on the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh. The show will have more than 175 booths offering everything from the latest lures, plastics, jigs, custom rods, apparel, knives, product sample booths, hard-tops, saltwater charters, fresh water guides, cast nets and gaffs. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors 60 and older, $5 for ages 6-12 and free for 5 and younger. Call 336-855-0208.
