Starlight Cafe owners Alan Boutillier and his family realized a dream of growing the food they serve at their restaurant when they purchased a Pitt County farm in January 2011. During the past 12 months, the Boutiliers have planted and reaped their first harvest and learned a lot about farming through trial and error.

Now, the family wants to join with other area farmers and others interested in the farm-to-table lifestyle for a roundtable discussion to share knowledge and resources every month.

“Since starting the farm we have had many conversations about gardens, chickens and canning/preserving and growing food,” Boutilier said. “We’ve noted that there are a lot of us with interest in and experience with farming.
