DENVER —  Roscoe listens to a recitation of the room-service menu at The Curtis Hotel and appears to consider each item carefully.

The burger sounds good, but at his advanced age, it might be wise to go with something lighter. He perks up when he hears the words “chicken” and “fish,” but he doesn’t seem to care if they come in tacos or as pâté.

Who are we kidding? He’ll take one of each, please, because Roscoe is an Australian shepherd of indeterminate pedigree and typically indiscriminate palate.
