Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter Alexandra Day is appearing at a special Sunday show at the Tipsy Teapot on April 3, while being hosted by fellow female rockers Arielle Bryant and Anna Rose Beck.

Day's stop in Greenville is a part of her tour to promote her latest album, “Untangle.” Admission to the show is $3. The show will be held from 5-8 p.m.

Day has been described by Doug Wallen (Philadelphia Weekly) as “sultry yet versatile” and by Dena Marchiony (Philadelphia Songwriters Project) as “a wonderful songwriter with great lyrics and catchy, interesting musical hooks.”

“Untangle” was released March 7 and showcases a scaled-down texture, compared to her 2008 full-band disk No Castles No Moats. Much of the album was recorded at home during a summer residency at the downtown loft of Philadelphia music patroness, composer and pianist Andrea Clearfield.

A show in her hometown of Gaithersburg, Md., was among the first in a 15-show CD Release tour which also includes dates in Boston, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Greenville, Atlanta and New Orleans. Venues include cafes, colleges, neighborhood bars, art galleries and house parties. Each concert is self-booked and is anchored by a group of local friends or fans, which will ensure a lively crowd. She has also launched a two-month publicity campaign including national press outlets and also publications and radio stations (she's already some airplay on Philadelphia's WSTW) local to the seven regions of her tour.

Alexandra Day is classically trained in both piano and voice (Temple University), experienced as a pop singer (Renaissance Orchestra, a nine-piece party band) and regularly works as a jazz chanteuse.
