Detroit-based “bop” band Pruissia is set to perform during an 8-11 p.m. showcase at Tipsy Teapot, 409 S. Evans St., on Wednesday.
They will be performing with two local acts, yet to be announced.
“Tropical and groovy, soulful and filled with truth. Lush harmonies and fuzzy bass makes you dance!” the band proclaims, also calling their music “Detroit crunk at it's finest.”
Swaggering drum loops, intricate guitar compositions and vocal harmonies all support the sweet nasal crooning of singer Ryan Spencer. Stories of suicide, misogyny, sexual vacancy and the crippling ennui of illusory love all weave in and out of pop songs.
“Lyrically, it's T.S. Eliot's drunken scribbling on a bathroom wall,” they say.
Notable bands with which Prussia has shared the stage include Dr. Dog, Fiery Furnaces, Quasi, Black Heart Procession, Thunderbirds are now!, Islands, Beach House, tUnE-YaRdS and Dent May.
