The second annual Jolly Skull Beer Fest will be held at the Greenville Convention Center from 1-6 p.m. Jan. 28.

The festival will host more than 50 American craft and regional micro breweries and more than 130 beers.

North Carolina has the largest number of craft breweries in the American South with 21 brew pubs and 28 packaging breweries.

Among the North Carolina breweries that will be on hand are: Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery from Farmville; Mother Earth Brewing Company from Kinston; Weeping Radish from Jarvisburg; Foothills from Winston Salem; Highland Brewing Company from Asheville; Carolina Brewery from Chapel Hill; Aviator Brewing Company from Fuquay Varina; Natty Greene’s Pub & Brewing Company; Front Street Brewery from Wilmington; Carolina Beer Company of Mooresville; and LoneRider Brewing Company from Raleigh.

There will be a single tasting session with three ticket options. VIP tickets will give you access for the full five-hour event and an hour and a half more than the general admission tickets. Only 500 VIP tickets will be sold. General admission tickets give you access from 2:30-6 p.m. Both options include a tasting glass, festival program, pen and unlimited sampling of the beers being offered. A new designated driver ticket will be offered this year for $15 and will provide admission from 2:30-6 p.m. Designated driver tickets will not receive a tasting glass, program or pen. The event will be limited to 3,000 people.

The festival will also raise money for the Museum of the Marine located in Jacksonville and the North Carolina Brewers Guild, a nonprofit group for brewers, vendors, retailers, and craft beer enthusiasts focused on promoting North Carolina beer.

The Marine museum honors the contributions made by the Marine Corps, a branch of the United States military service, their families and North Carolina communities that support the Marines.
