In the daytime, they are known separately as a bouncer, a bar manager, a tattoo artist, a resident DJ, a Sheetz employee and a college student. At night, they're known as hard rock band This Day I Prevail.
They very-well may be the most eclectic band in town.
And the band says they're making things happen fast. After being together just weeks, they have already drawn upon mass public and social network interest, including catching the eye of big name Chicago native Jaime Radar (New Trigger Media). TDIP includes tour veterans Layton Cross, vocals (Set In Stone/RC Records) and Tony Frazier, drums, (Sin For the Fallen/X Fest), as well as Michael Clester, guitar; Cory Carlyle, guitar; Daniel Wall, bass and Chris Aman, synthesizer.
TDIP is endorsed by Saluda Cymbals, Knucklehead Strings and New Trigger Media.
“TDIP promises a fun and outgoing stage presence at every show,” said Cross. “Playing recent shows to sold out crowds in Eastern NC has geared TDIP up for the next step. Look for them on their East Coast tour in March.”
Before heading out on tour, check out the Feb. 27 at Live. They will be recording their EP this month in Greensboro, as well, before starting their tour with the Relics March 4 at The Tank.
Cross also spent some time answering questions for this month's Music Box:
mixer: How did so many people with such different backgrounds come to play music together?
Cross: Being that about 80 percent of our band is comprised of downtown Greenville employees, word gets around quick about talent and musicianship. Although we all come from different backgrounds, we all have one common love for music — to include creating/writing.
mixer: How do you think the synthesizer adds to your music?
Cross: The synthesizer completely changes the metal game. It adds diversity, layers our harmonies and brings a whole different energy to the table.
mixer: What do you hope for the local hardcore rock scene in 2011?
Cross: In 2011, we hope to see more opportunities for hardcore rock bands to play in the area. In a town that is dominated by the popularity of jam/cover bands, we rely on very few venues and makeshift shows to perform. We can only hope that the public can be open to our movement and what we are trying to do.
mixer: What bands (local or national) do you think will be big this year?
Cross: Locally, I see The Ethnographers really taking off this year. They are a truly talented group of musicians writing really catchy, beautiful stuff.
mixer: What CDs are in your collection that people would be surprised to see?
Cross: This Day I Prevail's music tastes are very eclectic, we may be a metal core band but don't put it past us to see anything from Justin Bieber to Lady Gaga.
mixer: What should metal-show virgins know before coming to a concert?
Cross: Before coming to a This Day I Prevail show, they should be fully prepared to witness an on stage energy and crowd participation that is not seen anywhere else.

Seriously????
Personally, I don't understand how you guys could say your metal core/metal, whatever you want to call it, band. You are taking a perfect well balanced sound (aka metal) and turning it into a circus show that makes the true metal bands 'name' look bad. I have been to your show, no sell out. You guys do not sound well on stage at all, no good vocals, riffs and drums are sloppy and repetitive, no point in having synth, and honestly you can not give real experience advice to people who actually enjoy the genre as is and are looking to create a true metal band, no tweeking. If you guys do succeed it will be because of the sheer luck from the "mass" media of the Greenville downtown population who honestly can not even stand to be there to watch you guys play there in the first place. Please, in the name of good music, stop. People go to your shows to show support because they have nothing better to do with there day and the idea of supporting a little rock band is what gets them hard in the morning because it is a cool trendy fad that is out right now. leave it to the real musicians, you guys are not 14 years old anymore.
Also refer to this article which I found and also believe is focused on you fellas, http://www.facebook.com/brewerydoorguy/posts/182316681800175
